If I do, I will be giving away the storyline and I would rather encourage others to read this book -- without me giving away the plot.Mick Bose has a very unique way of telling a story and he keeps the reader's attention throughout the book.The vivid descriptions of people and places put the reader in the middle of the action. You can see, feel and hear everything about the locations in the book -- whether they are in the capital of Washington DC or the jungles of Myanmar (Burma). The cast of characters is so richly drawn that you can "visualise" every fight and/or battle that takes place -- you feel the bullets hit, then watch the bodies hit the ground. I was totally immersed in this book and read it from beginning to end without a break (and, of course, the ending leaves me impatiently waiting for the next book in the series).This new fan highly recommends the Dan Roy series and I will be looking forward to his next book. Well done, Mr. Bose -- another 5-star action thriller!

I received an ARC of this book, at my request, from the author. I chose to write a review; this is my honest review.Mick Bose does not disappoint in this book, his third featuring Dan Roy. The writing is crisp, no-nonsense and the pages turned swiftly as I read. Action, from Dan and the ever-present bad guys, is almost nonstop and bodies drop as Dan plows forward in his mission of rescue.The odd thing is Dan is retired. How did he get embroiled in a rescue? I will not tell you as it might spoil your reading of this riveting tale. Far be it from me to write a spoiler!Dan reveals a bit more about himself regarding his feelings in this book and feels a tug on his heart during the adventure in Myanmar. It is interesting to see how this warrior thinks. Not only is Dan an incredible fighter, he always tries to do the right thing for other people. Now Bose is letting the reader see into his heart. I really like this added dimension to Dan.If you like action, reading about weapons, explosives, strategy and hand-to-hand combat, grab this book and enjoy. It has a good storyline, action, lots of bad guys and settings which are described in an awesome manner. Bose wraps up this tale well and does not leave any threads. I recommend this book without any reservations. For an action adventure, it is a clean read, too. I enjoyed it very much!
I have read several books with ‘protocol’ in their titles lately. According to the various definitions, protocol is said to be a set of rules and regulations to be followed in certain situations. However, from the Gulf of Tonkin to Yangon, things are happening that seem to have no set rules. Who can you trust? My other question is, how do all of these guys carry all that ammunition around with them all the time??? I recommend this book for those who know what it is like and want to relive it and for those who don’t know what it is like and want to experience it and still live.
The author succeeded in his goal and I read the entire story---my choice. Massively formulaic, repetitive fight scenes to no apparent purpose. Over the course of the story the protagonist loses about ten gallons of his own blood and kills at least fifty bad guys. Writing is done so fast that such things as continuity of tense and gender are often scrambled. Unnecessary inaccurate technicalities much in evidence. A single stick of gelignite destroys an entire floor of a high-rise building. With enough suspension of disbelief, a good read.
