Amazingly the best HARD BACK players guide I have ever seen of all of my video games. I am 73 y.o and an avidvideo game player, and I have waited 2 years for this, and it is here, and it is BEAUTIFUL with vividcolors and pictures and clear instructions. A thick & heavy book that will be handed down to myfamily heirloom. Quality & paper is top grade, something to be proud of. Yes, this is 5 Stars Plus +++++I highly recommend this book for any RDR2 fan...It is addicting and the most beautiful graphics I haveever seen in a game and this book shows you the way to increase your pleasure......ENJOY !!!
First of all, the print is small. I’m 58 and I use 275 magnification readers to paint military figures and other micro stuff these old eyes need help with. The font is so small I couldn’t read anything without an addition magnifying glass. Maybe it’s just me, but why in this day and age are we forced to read fine print smaller than the near invisible stuff on the bottom of a used car dealership’s finance contract.Secondly, the whole purpose for me to buy a book is to have access to the information when I know I’m not going to get a good signal for example, going to a mountainous region to absorb the peace and serenity of nature while unwinding. There’s so much information not in this guide. Sure, they touch base and say for example your horses tack can change the stats on the horse, but I couldn’t find any of the saddle, stirrup and blanket stats anywhere. What good is that if your away from your internet service and can’t plan, take notes for the things you would like in the game if they didn’t include it in the book. I’ve hunted for information about trains, fast travel etc and again, vague. It doesn’t say if your horse meets you there or do you have to find a stable. It doesn’t tell you how, or if fast travel is a one way trip. There’s no talk about any weapon calibers, the game includes it, but again we’re talking about being AFK. I’ve used bows on three star animals, perfect shot to the head, I skin the thing, thinking oh boy, I’m on my way to the dude that makes special outfits. I pick it up, it’s only two star. One head shot, no other damage and I get good after skinning, why? The book should expain penalties. I watched a video, they said if ya plug the thing full of holes, you’ll get a penalty, even after skinning the wound was above the cut of the skinning. The book is riddled with like just touching base but it leaves out so much. Heck, I’d pay more, or should I have too when the advertising says it’s a tell all. Sure, I expect to hear, well, we had to print the book and have it written before the end of the games design, or they’ll possibly change stats later which will render it useless. If that’s the case, why are some stats there? You get the drift of my meaning. I gave it three stars for paper quality, layout etc. there’s a ton of work that went into this book but it falls short in some aspects in my humble opinion.
I wasn't sure whether to order this book because part of the fun of playing a game is discovery and figuring out what is what. But this game in particular found me wondering what to do next in so many places. I searched the built-in Help system and got some answers, but they were often incomplete. There is a lot of free info online, but I didn't want to sort through it all and didn't want to week through hours of help videos. This is a HUGE game with a lot to discover and I didn't want to waste any more time being frustrated on how to accomplish a particular thing, or determine the best way of doing something. This book fills that need very well.This book is a reference and consists of 386 full-color illustrated pages. The 7 chapters include: 1)Primer 2)Missions 3)Exploration 4)Atlas 5)Weapons 6)Items 7)Extras.Each chapter has numerous sections or sub-chapters which are too many to list here.This book is LOADED with useful illustrations, charts and tables that visually describe each part of the game. Along the right column of each page is a "locator" which indicates the chapter and section that you are currently on.If you love the RDR franchise but have been frustrated with the game, then this book is for you. You can quickly lookup whatever is required to get you back on track enjoying the game. It's filled with tips, tricks and lots of detailed information that you can lookup quickly so you can focus more on having fun. In some ways it compensates for what the game should never have lacked in the first place. But I have found it a useful reference to get me back on track.
I got my book 3 days later than it was supposed to come, that's fine I had a lot of the game to play anyways lol. The hardcover book is t h i c c lol. Get it. very detailed stuff.
Yes it didn't arrive Friday when the game released and I didn't get it until today but other than that negative occurrence the guide itself covers everything in the game! Can also be useful for the trophy/achievement hunters by giving tips and making it known that some trophies/achievements are missable!
This guide is fantastic! It has everything necessary to get gold badges on story missions, it has locations of every collectible in the game, and it has good tools to get better at some of the side challenges like hunting, fishing, five finger filet, etc. It's an essential item for a completionist or trophy hunter. Would definitely recommend.
The content of this guide is great, but it seems many of the copies sent out have manufacturing defects. The pages of mine are all wavy and shrivelled at the top and bottom throughout the entire book, almost as if it got wet somehow. Very unfortunate as the book and content itself are really good. Wish that it didn’t arrive damaged :(
Just received my guide today and I couldn't be happier. Yes I didn't receive it on the day of the game release, but that is fine with me. Waiting 4 extra days is not a big deal (for me). The guide is jam packed with useful information, and I spent over 30 minutes reading all about the game before even playing. After reading how important paying attention to details in this game is, I am super happy I bought the guide. I would miss out on so many missions and events if I didn't have it. I recommend it.
