About the Author
Michelle Nussbaumer’s design career began in Rome, where expats fell in love with the villa she had decorated and sought her out as a guide to Italian treasures. After moving to Los Angeles, Nussbaumer opened her design business and chic antique shop in La Brea. A decade later, she returned to Dallas and opened her celebrated shop Ceylon et Cie. Her work has been featured in Elle Decor, House Beautiful, Architectural Digest, Veranda, Marie Claire, House & Garden, and the New York Times. Hutton Wilkinson is an interior decorator, master jeweler, and design authority.

Normally I dislike over the top decorating, however Michelle Nussbaumer has such exquisite taste and such wonderful things that she creates interiors that excite the senses and make the exotic livable. This is fearless decorating at its ravishing best. Brava! A beautiful book!
This is an excellent, beautifully photographed dream building addition to my library and will feature prominently on my coffee table. Sadly ( insert sax and violins) most furnishings are beyond my reach in terms of mileage and $'s but the how to's are indeed very helpful. My only criticism being the author is a tad over indulgent with her portrait featuring a little more often than needed. Despite this, (drum roll) I'd like to order a second copy as a Christmas gift for a friend in Hong Kong. Not one to miss an opportunity - can you offer a discount for a second copy?
Love! This book surprises you in the best way by mixing different design styles from all over the world and different eras in such a wonderful way that it amazes and inspires you. After flipping through the pages I immediately began brainstorming on how I could improve the decor in my home. I usually don't enjoy many books likes this, but each home/room was so beautiful and different from the one before that it really kept my attention. Also loved the glimpse into the authors life. Highly recommend!
Ever since I saw Michelle Nussbaumer featured a few months ago in Veranda, I have been so excited to get this book. And oh boy is it a beauty! It's one of those books that you just don't want to end. She has "IT." You want her to be your friend! Go slowly. This is a real treat.
"Wanderlust: Interiors That Bring the World Home" is a feast for both eye and soul and one of the most beautiful books yet produced by the venerable publisher Rizzoli. A volume this rich in content and substance merits repeated visits, and it is thus a gift that will keep on giving. The book celebrates Michelle Nussbaumer, an interior designer blessed with the means and taste to scour the globe for fascinating objects, fabrics, and inspiration. Her resulting decorative layering is exceptionally rich. To some degree, this calls to mind the work of the late American pioneer Tony Duquette and the late British designer Geoffrey Bennison. However, here greater imagination and surprising combinations produce a more informal aesthetic. Even the design of the book plays on this theme of layering, with a number of pages sewing together a patchwork of small-size photographs into dazzling quilt-like designs. "Wanderlust" is not a how-to decorating book, and its results may well be beyond the reach of many readers. Even so, it will spark the imaginations of most who see it, and trips to one's closets and to purveyors of imported goods, to say nothing of second-hand dealers, will likely proliferate.
Michelle is one of the most talented designers and this book is AMAZING. The photos are gorgeous and she is so interesting. I love all the rich colors and patterns. This is a must own!!!!
What a fabulous book!!! Michelle's fearless designs inspire to abandon the "rules" and encourage to fill a home with colors, textures and treasures dear to one's heart. This is a welcome change from the repetitive approach to design. Bravo Michelle for teaching us not to be afraid of being different! I especially love the chalet in Switzerland with it's not so traditional but still amazing and different Alpine charm.
